How to play

  • Pattern: each line shows four numbers in an arithmetic sequence—neighbours share the same step (e.g. 2, 5, 8, 11 → next is 14).
  • Answer: the row ends with “?”; type the next term, then press Submit.
  • Score: correct picks raise your Score; after a miss, the solution appears so you can confirm the step size.
  • Next: press Next pattern for a fresh list—submit the active puzzle first if you still want credit.

Game description

Each puzzle offers a short run of numbers built as an arithmetic progression: the step between neighbors stays constant, so the pattern is a straight line in disguise rather than a tangle of mixed rules. Your task is to sense that stride, extend it one more place, and type the next value before curiosity moves on. Submitting compares your prediction with the truth immediately, which keeps the loop tight—either a quiet nod of alignment or a quick correction that shows the increment you overlooked.

Because the page runs in a browser, a coach can open a tab beside a learner, talk through differences aloud, and swap to a fresh sequence whenever repetition grows stale. Correct answers accumulate a score, while misses reveal the missing term so the story finishes on honest arithmetic instead of vague frustration. Over time players learn to scan endpoints first, to test candidate steps against every pair, and to distrust hunches that only fit the first two entries. The skill transfers anywhere lists behave predictably: budgets that climb evenly, distances that add the same mile each day, inventories that shrink by a constant unit. Confidence here is less about speed than about proving the step you see is the step the whole row agrees on.
